Walking the Builders Show from New Jersey
Believe me, I wanted to be there, the International Builders Show 2010 in Las Vegas...Sin City baby!!! But my wife and I are expecting our first child in a few weeks, so I'll just have to wait until the 2011 show. I feel like I've seen much of the show because of the coverage I'm getting from industry tweeps...yeah I said it, the people I follow on Twitter are going above and beyond in relaying information that I find extremely useful. I'm grabbing alot of unbiased information from the media i.e. Charles Hudson, Katy Tomasulo, Lauren Hunter, BuilderNews, Nick Bajzek and more. I follow products and manufacturers that we have relationships with but I follow just as many that we have no affiliation with. To be the best on the retail side of it, its just as beneficial to know your product lines and the product lines of your competitors. I really think both Marvin Windows and Andersen Windows stepped up this year with their marketing efforts. We applaud you both. Others have increased their tweets and facebook postings but violate rule #1 in social media (its not all about you), a couple of brands that come to mind is an online flooring retailer and a popular fiber cement siding manufacturer. Maybe I just violated rule #2 (be nice to everyone in your social media channels). Anyway, thanks to everyone who went to IBS 2010, I know your feet are killing you and I'll see you all next year.

Short and sweet
Even though business has been somewhat on the slow side we've been fairly busy in the office. Some very cool things are in store for Niece Lumber in 2010, most of which are in our ever changing products offering. So as we sort through the latest and greatest for 2010, you'll hear about it here first.
Just a friendly reminder that the $1500 tax credit is going to be available for 2010. Many customers have taken advantage of it - if new windows or doors are in your future, act on it during 2010.
Check back next Friday for some serious offers and promotions that will be honored for the rest of January.
